What's in a Name?

One of the most difficult decisions I had to make when starting my coaching business was what to call it. There are several pages in my notebook that are covered with ideas, some clever, some not so much.

First and foremost, I wanted my business name to represent my philosophy on health and wellness. It's a difficult decision to make because these few words will be representing you and what you believe for the whole world to see. After several weeks of brainstorming and not being able to commit to anything the name was decided on in the most appropriate of places.

My husband and I have always made dinner a special time for our family. It's a time to slow down and connect with each other, hear all about what our kids did at school that day, and enjoy a home-made meal together. It's only fitting that while at dinner and brainstorming with our children that we decided on The Simple Table.

The Simple Table encompasses the philosophy behind my practice and also a way of life that we have chosen in our home. As I've said in my bio, I believe a healthy lifestyle can, and should be simple. We've been blessed by nature to have everything we need to be (or become) optimally healthy and all we need to do is take advantage of it. Despite not having the scientific advantages we benefit from now, our ancestors actually knew quite a bit about what things contributed to health. Sure, they may not have understood the cellular mechanisms involved, but by observation they understood what foods provided what benefits.

For too long we've moved away from basic nutrition principles in favor of trends, fads and cherry-picked scientific data. It's time we simplify, get back to basics and live our best lives. Welcome to The Simple Table.
